CHAIRMAN’S LETTER 2019

Posted On July 17, 2019

Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to set out some of the issues facing the club in the forthcoming season:

  1. This season, Karl Rummery will captain the first team and Trevor Wright will takeover as 2nd team captain. Tony Reader will organise the Sunday side with a new 30 over format.  The committee will of course give them all the support they need and would ask all the players to do the same.
  1. Tony Reader will continue to head up our Junior Section. Tony will work with our team of coaches and helpers, to deliver a well organised coaching environment for the juniors. The club will be running under 13’s under 11’s and under 9’s
    teams
  1. The club will continue trying to attract gap year students from the local schools and as always remains keen on encouraging new players. Phil Buckingham will continue our recruitment drive as we build relationships with local primary schools. New members are always welcome !

  1. Clubmark continues to be an important part of the clubs organisation. This year is our accreditation year so if you need to update your paperwork (coaches and helpers as well as team captains umpires etc ) please try to be as prompt as possible.

  1. Neal Metcalf has arranged for us to purchase Sissinghurst CC kit. Details of availability can be found on the club website as well as on the notice board in the clubhouse. This seasons kit will be sponsored by Paul Dyas and hiscompany J M Finn.

  1. As you are all aware, the Boot Fairs continue to be a crucial source of income for the cricket club. Not only do they allow us to keep our membership subs low , they are the main contribution to maintaining and improving our already excellent Please help where and when you can.

Scoreboard

  1. We have now been able to unveil our new electronic scoreboard thanks to sponsorship from Paul Dyas and now have a brand new practice net thanks to a donation from A J Powell. The grants committee have managed to secure two new barbeques and are in the process of purchasing covers for the square. With the help of further grant and sponsorship money we hope to continue improving the clubs facilities.

  1. This years end of season bonanza dinner is booked for Saturday Oct 19th.
