Sissinghurst Cricket Club Juniors

How great it was to see so many children at the very sunny launch of the Sissinghurst CC Junior Section outdoor season last Sunday. We have a very busy summer ahead across both our boys and girls teams from Under 9 to Under 18. Some of the key events to look forward to include:

  • We have entered teams for the Weald of Kent Boys Leagues in Under 9’s, 11’s and 13’s covering both hardball and softball where appropriate.
  • We have entered the Weald of Kent Girls hardball and softball leagues for the very first time.
  • We have also entered the Kent Girls Under 13’s “EIGHTY” League starting in May. Kent’s aim is to develop the most progressive club girls cricket league in the country.
  • The Weald of Kent League are introducing an Under 18 Summer League to run through July and August which should provide a great opportunity for all our Junior Members, above the Under 13’s, to play some summer cricket.
  • We have a number of new coaches who have been participating in the ECB Foundation Courses over the winter, it was great to see them all working across the various age groups on Sunday.
  • The fund raise for Project Nets now stands at £26,500 in commitments and sponsorship which is brilliant. It is still Not to late to give so please visit our Go Fund Me page the link to which is https://gofund.me/733d6c6f  We will only reach our target of £30,000 if you all help so please do visit the site and give what you can.
  • The Club has now submitted the planning application for the two new net cages the construction of which will be partially funded by the Project Nets initiative. We have met up with key contractors from which the preferred party will be retained shortly.
  • We have introduced a Junior Section Awards day which will take place on Saturday 21st August. More to follow on what should be a great day for all.
  • We have a new Junior Section Honours Board in the Pavilion celebrating the 12 age group League and Cup successes we have had since 2017.

For new members our Junior Section Mission Statement and Core Values can all be found on the website  We have updated the Information Sheet for 2022 and added the new Junior Membership Form.

We are delighted that TN17 Food and Wine and Trueplan have joined JM FINN & Co as our kit sponsors this season, please make sure you have all visited the Club Shop and bought your new playing kit at the heavily discounted price before the offer expires. We would also like to welcome The Milk House as an affiliate to the Club and to thank them for their generous support of Project Nets.

As with every season we can’t function without the input of parents so please do offer to help in any way you can.

Let us all hope that we can enjoy both sunshine and cricket in the months to come.
