Saturday Falls Victim to the Weather But Sunday sees a game completed!

“If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”

It was always going to happen, the “Corona League” was due to kick off this weekend and with 22 good men and true of Sissinghurst lined up eyes turned to the weather forecast, and it didn’t look good.

The first team took the trip over to Farningham and found the ground looking in great condition with a very quick outfield. After being invited to bat we ran up 192-8 thanks to good performances from a young top order with the standout knock being 41 from 14 year old Jack Greig. A quick break for byo tea was held in constant drizzle and as it got harder the game never restarted.

The seconds hosted local rivals Linton Park at the King George Field only 8 overs were managed as the rain reached Sissinghurst earlier that it had at Farninhgam, a damp squib.

We hope for better weather for our Sunday fixture as we take eh sort journey to Linton Park, long time no see… And better weather we had indeed. At 40-7 batting first it didn’t look good at all but a rallying partnership of 50 between Nathan Staines and Kieran Martin helped us up to a more reasonable total of 111 (I am hopping on one foot as i write this). Alas this was not enough to win the game as Linton overhauled the total for the loss of three wickets, but there were some good showings with the ball and worse things happen at sea.
